At Exeter, she led projects to determine the contribution of different species of parrotfish to the grazing process in Palau. For her Post-doctoral studies, Sonia will participate in the Global Reef Expedition and will study the grazing behavior of key species of herbivores, and the relative contributions of different species across spatial, temporal and anthropogenic gradients. |
Sonia received her Bachelor's of Science in Marine Biology from the University of Jorge Tadeo Lozano (Colombia) in 2001, worked for 3 and a half years as a research scientist of the national and regional coral reef monitoring programs at INVEMAR (Colombia), and completed her PhD at the University of Exeter (UK) in January 2010 working under the supervision of Professor Peter Mumby.
