Amanda earned her Master’s Degree in Marine Science with a concentration in Marine Policy at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Geographical Sciences at James Madison University, Virginia. Amanda conducted her Master’s research at Boracay Island, Philippines, investigating land use change with satellite imagery and mapped the geographic distribution of coral reefs utilizing SCUBA diving, GPS and video transect collection from 2006 to 2008. Previous research includes examining Diadema antillarum and macroalgae abundance of the coral reef ecosystems in the Turks and Caicos Islands and studying sea turtle biology and the relationship to marine protected areas, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
